Holiday Wrap Up
I did not post nearly as much as I thought I would over the holidays. I didn't do alot of things over the holidays, which was just what I was hoping for. I'm not too worried about it. I did lots of other fun things.
I spent three evenings with three seperate groups of friends. I love my friends, they truly are my family and they fill my heart and life in so many ways.
Two hour full body massage - a hostess gift from one of the friends who attended my little soiree on the 23rd. It was orgasmic.....ok not entirely...but damn it was good. My body was putty by the end of the massage. The massage therapist commented that my hips were really tight - I told her it was a direct result of sitting on my ass all day perfecting my ass groove.
Read three books. None really worth mentioning here, they were ok but not blogworthy.
Spent an evening at my bro's house watching Titanic with sister in law while Nora and my two nephews played hide and go seek for two hours. This is a bit of an accomplishment because after 20 minutes of screaming boys and a barking dog, I'm ready to hightail it the hell outta there. The boys had gotten Wii for Christmas which all three played for about an hour until Nora suggested hide and go seek. Their squeals of delight as Nora found them in various hiding places through out the house were much nicer to listen to then the arguments over the Wii controllers.
Watched season 8 of Smallville and season 6 of One Tree Hill (one of Nora's xmas presents). Love me some tv in dvd format.
Nora and I went to see Blind Side.
Spent an entire uninterrupted week (aka no school) with my kids. Normally, by the end of such a venture I'd be screaming for prozac and guzzling wine by the box. A funny thing is taking place though, my kids are growing up. Monty will be 18 in April. How did this happen? How is it possible that I'm the mother of an 18 year old boyman? I'm still 25 right? Huh...it just doesn't seem possible. The boys were content to play with their video games, eat their weight in food on a daily basis and generally bum around the house. There were days when they didn't get dressed. Nora was quite happily stuck by my side all week. I treasure this time with her because I know in the not too distant future, the very sight of me will send her into a hormonally-induced rage. Poor Jimmy almost cried last night when he realized it was Sunday and he would have to return to the grind today.
So that's the highlight recap of the holidays.
If you haven't done so yet, check out the new blog Lose It, Bitches created by the fabulous Ms. Zgirl. I (along with several other awesome women) will be contributing to the site on a regular basis.
Last but not least, the gym bag is packed and ipod is charged in preparation for my foray back to the gym this evening. I'm hoping for 40 minutes on the treadmill. My lax muscles, that have not done anything more strenuous than hauling my ass to the fridge in over 2 years, may dispute that goal.

Damn, the guilt of my Big Mac is almost crushing me, despite knowing that I'll be at the gym tonight. But I didn't eat all my fries. That's progress, right?
I'll work extra hard at the gym, which hasn't seen my fat ass since before my wedding in June. 'Bout time we got reacquainted. - SurferWife said...

I'm ready to work out now just to warm my ass up. I've had the heat running non stop and I still have ice cubes for feet. This is not what I had in mind for an incentive. Exercising just to keep from freezing! lol

My kids have 3 more weeks of vacation (we're upside down here in Australia) but they've just been camping for 4 days so they're more than happy to veg in front of the TV.
I'm always scared that I'll go to bed and wake up with teenagers in the house...it's going too fast and I still feel 20!

Congratulations on the already packed gym bag and charged iPod. I think I am going to have to find me an elliptical. I love ellipticals~! I used to be able to do 45 minutes or so on one.
TV on DVD is the only way I like to watch shows now...you can watch a whole season so quickly. - Anonymous said...

I did my post! You won't have to hound me until next week at least!
I can't wait until my kid is the age where I can actually enjoy her. Kidding, sort of. It was very nice to have a couple of nice four day weekends where we didn't have to be anywhere and could laze around in PJ's all day. One of these years I'm going to take off the week between Xmas and New Years. I swear.
And I almost cried last night too. I have a feeling this week is going to drag ass with the last two short weeks behind us. - gayle said...

Today is Tuesday and I am just getting around to reading Mondays stuff. Yesterday was my first day back to school/work..I'm not going to even tell you how 23 first graders were. Lucky you for getting a 2 hour massage...I haven't gotten one in a long long time.. well since I gained all this weight..I love facials too. This is going to be a long week...we can do it.

I'm jealous about the massage. I've never had one. Poor me.
There was a slight flutter of panic last night as the reality that we'd be heading back to the classroom today too sunk in. Then as we were climbing into bed, the phone rang. It was the principal at hubs school...the district called off school today. I'm guessing because of the cold (negative temps) and the snow packed streets still proving a fun slipnslide adventure for non 4wheel driving peeps. The news this morning said the side streets wouldn't be cleared anytime soon because the city is already out of money. Hmmm...so theys just gonna leave it!
I'm sure tomorrow the alarm will once again be thrown across the room as it mocks me at 4:30am.
Best of luck with the gym. I've already got a recipie in que and another itchin to be typed for Lose It Bitches
