What Would You Do With 50 Million Dollars?

Brought to you exclusively by Dual Mom on
I know all you bloggers south of the Canadian border are used to huge lotto jackpots and 50 million probably is no big deal. Here in Canada, where EVERYTHING is government regulated, jackpots rarely make it above the 30 million mark. This Friday there is a 50 million dollar jackpot up for grabs, which got me thinking, what the hell does one do with that kind of money?

So I sat pondering it on my drive to work this morning. What would Dual Mom do with THAT much money? I'm a single mom. I have a good job, but I also have 3 kids (two of which are teenage boys and can eat their weight in food on a daily basis). I have a mortgage, drive a new car, a shoe addiction that would rival most coke addicts love of the white stuff and various other everyday expenses. In the next two years both boys will be going off to College/University with the girl not far behind. Do you know how fucking expensive post secondary education is?!!! Let's be honest here, I'm tempted to try and sell my body to deal with that little expense. However, any prostitution attempts on my part would end in dismal failure and I'm really not sure the ole' ego could take it.

I digress. Anyrichbitch I am not what one would consider well off.

So 50 million dollars is really unfathomable to me.

I started blogging five months ago. In that time, there are several women that I've gotten to know just a little bit. They make me laugh, they make me think, they open my eyes to new things. The fact that there are so many people and places in the world that I will never know actually keeps me up at night. I have this irrational need to KNOW people. The fact that there are a gazzillion places on earth I will never visit makes me sad. It really and truly does. I have daydreams about sitting around a pub with alot of these woman, drinking vodka martinis and shooting the shit.

So what would I do with 50 million dollars? I would have the biggest, baddest, bestest damn blog party this world has ever seen. Seriously. I'd rent out the most high tootin', poshest resort I could find and I'd fly (first class - cause I'm filthy stinkin rich and that's what filthy stinkin rich people do) EVERY ONE of my blog buddies in for the bash. We would than proceed to drink, laugh, cry, shop, laugh, shop, make fun of fucktards, swear, drink some more.....well you get the picture. We would get dressed when we felt like it, sleep when we felt like it, eat when we felt like it. It would be light years BEYOND totally fabulous and just imagine the blog fodder? Imagine the damn blog fodder people!! Of course just because I'm filthy stinkin rich does NOT mean I'd stop blogging. But I might hire someone to type out my blog from my dictated notes, because that's what filthy stinkin rich people do, right?

So here's what I'm thinking. We all know the power of positive thinking right? Ok even if you don't believe in it just stick with me for a sec. You should send ALL your positive thoughts my way in hopes that I win the lottery on Friday night. I know, I know there are starving children in the world and I could so be using my bloggy powers for more humanitarian efforts but I promise when I'm filthy stinkin rich I will so help the starving kids. I swear. I never buy lottery tickets. I think in my entire life I've bought like two. So this is it folks, this is OUR chance. Really I'm doing this for all of you because I know how empty your life is without the opportunity to party with Dual Mom.

So tell me, what would you do with 50 million dollars?

Hey! I didn't know you were Canadian too!! I assume West of Montreal, I'm in the Maritimes!

Anyway getting back to spending this jackpot, well I think I would probably just pack up and get the hell out of here to somewhere warm and take what was left of that 50 million once every relative from the Mayflower onward was done knocking at my door looking for a piece of it!

This is such a nice idea. 50 million big ones? I would retire my entire immediate family--right. now. I think I would have to buy property someplace warm too. After that....just hang out and enjoy the easy life.

I sure hope you win Friday night. Just imagine how many shoes 50 million could buy!

I'm all for the big blogger party! And just read my post today to see one of the things I would do with that money (which includes bloggers in Vegas for my 40th). If you win, maybe you can fund that trip for me! ;)

Sending mucho positive thoughts your way.

I am going to go buy a ticket and we can split the prize, 25 Mil would be so much more manageable.

I would quit my damn job so fast, then change my phone number so they couldn't call and whine about how no one else knows how to do it.

I would love to come to your lottery winning party, if you come to mine!

While I would help my family I wouldn't support them for life, they are being poopyheads right now. I have friends I would be more willing to help!

I would replace my 20 year old car. Buy a house, which here in Vancouver would use a lot of that money.

Also all you south of the border folks need to know that Canadian lottery winnings are TAX FREE! Yes, when we win $50 million - we get all of it!

But I would SO love to join your party if you win! That's a fantastic idea. Just imagine the fun!

I am wishing so hard for you that my son just asked if I was trying to poop in my chair.

50 mil? Easy. Like you, I would make sure all my kiddos have college tuition paid for. I'd buy a new Escalade. I'd buy a really big house in Hawaii complete with maid service and a chef and invite you over for drinks.

And, no, I'm not trying to poop in my chair. I'm seriously wishing hard that you win that dough!

I would pay off all of our bills, build a house, take care of some family and then I'd like to start an organization for single mothers to help them with college. Ok...maybe some new boobs and a trip to Aruba too, but hell...I'd be stinkin' rich so it's all good!

I want to come to the blog party!!!! I hope you win-this is a great idea!! Fully catered, with spa privileges and hot men walking around shirtless and margaritas nonstop and ...can I help you plan??? I will give you a good rate for my party-planning expertise!! :)

I've only bought a handful of tickets before, recently my team at work all pitched in $5 and ended up buying $80 worth of tickets, thinking we would all get a few million out of it. We didn't. It was a huge letdown.

I'm always reminded of what a buddy of mine said, years ago, when the Ohio Lottery topped 10 or 15 million. He said, dryly, he'd put it in CDs (a certificate of deposit type... not a Metallica type).

I think this has stuck with me as my friend wasn't known for making jokes and I had to take a second or two to sort out if he was kidding.

I would just be happy to have a fraction of that. I'm struggling to come up with the money for my daughter's kilt, because I also owe school fees, and now need another $35 for registration at the college for next year.

After that, I'd buy my bagpipes and a new car. I'd move, and if there was any way I could use that money to do something very harmful to Thumpy Bitch and not get caught, I'd do that too.
